Fall Activities in Fargo

Leaves have started to change color and come down from the trees, which means the beautiful season of fall is back! I think it’s the perfect time to talk about some fall activities that people can do in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Whether you stay inside to watch shows and movies or you’re out enjoying the fall breeze, there’s plenty of ways to spend the season.
There are so many indoor fall activities and events to do. One of my favorite things to do is relax on the bed or couch with a cozy blanket and a beverage or snack and watch fall or Halloween shows and movies. “Gilmore Girls,” “Girl vs. Monster” and “Hocus Pocus” are some of my go-tos. Any comfort show or movie will do, but what makes this activity a great one is the cozy and warm aspect of the season that allows you to embrace it.
Some of the outdoor fall activities to do in Fargo-Moorhead include traditional pumpkin patches and corn mazes in the area, such as the Great Maze at West Acres Mall. This maze opened on Sept. 19 and will close on Nov. 1. It is a large outdoor maze that is family-friendly and great for all ages. Tuesdays and Thursdays during the maze’s season feature special themed nights, with Tuesdays being Dog Days and Thursdays being College Days. The maze will also hold a special event called Haunted Nights on Oct. 17 and 24. Right next door, West Acres Mall presents its Fall Fest every Saturday from 1-4 p.m. This event features live music, interactive play stations, free make-and-take craft booths and bath bombing at Lush.
Another fall activity to do is visit the Red River Market. The Red River Market is located in downtown Fargo and has been open since this summer, closing its season on Oct. 31. The purpose of this market is for people to support small businesses within the area.
Finally, NDSU hosts its annual Boo at NDSU during the fall. This year, Boo at NDSU is going to be on Oct. 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This event, hosted by the Residence Hall Association, creates an opportunity for kids to come trick-or-treat in the high-rise-style dorms before Halloween. The event also features carnival-style games in Cater Hall, all of which are created and manned by the hall governments of every NDSU dorm. If you live in Thompson, Sevrinson, Pavek or Cater, consider signing up your suite to participate in handing out candy for trick-or-treaters.
There are so many ways to spend your fall! The key is to pick activities that you will enjoy. If that means staying in or going for a walk in the sweater weather, go for it! Make the most of the season in whatever way you see fit.
