Spectrum Semester Recap and Thanks!

The 2025-26 school year has come to a conclusion here at North Dakota State University, which means The Spectrum student newspaper is closed for the summer. Issue 130 was a special one for us as we filled 29 editions of our best work since the pandemic. We covered countless events, wrote hundreds of articles, and captured great photos through the lenses of our photographers.

All of that wouldn’t be possible without the fantastic editorial team of Cash Rohman, Alex Cran, Katie Leier, and Avery Wiese. Those four handled our sports, news, opinion, and variety sections respectively, and they did a fantastic job adapting to new roles, more responsibility, and a new editor-in-chief, yours truly.

I want to thank our 22 writers this semester for their work because they are the backbone of our operation. They make up 80% of our paper every week and they all deserve a shoutout for the work that they did for us this semester:

News: Kate Thompson, Abel Brewster, Kamran Ali, True Lookenott, and Abby Schmidt

Variety: Brigitte Byankuba, Debarshi Dasgupta, Hannah Diekman, Tenley Kloster, and Grace Wolf

Opinion: SJ Williamson, Mason Solo, Kenzie Doorenbos, Steph Kramer, T Endres, Samantha Butler, Scott Johnson, and Suman Dey

Sports: Sam Huseby, Ethan Ibach, Joey Fox, Peter Havelka, and Danielle Goodmanson

I also want to thank our business staff for handling all of our finances and revenue: Hanna Stout, Haven Fitterer, and Alison Kunkel for doing a spectacular job.

I am really proud of the collaborations we have done this year, both at home and “abroad”, as our work with Bison Information Network is growing, and we did some really cool work with people from Illinois State, previewing both football matchups between the Redbirds and Bison.

Lastly, I want to thank you, the reader. You all are the reason why we work so hard to produce the best content possible, and we can guarantee that our drive to be an award-winning newspaper will continue into the fall of 2026.
