Cross Country Teams Wrap Up Regular Season at the Bradley Pink Classic
NDSU AthleticsBoth men's and women's teams wrapped up the regular season at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Illinois.
NDSU has competed at the Bradley Pink Classic for the last six seasons. The meet is held by the University of Bradley and is important for NDSU because it gives them time to rest and get healthy for the Summit League championships happening on Halloween.
The men would start the eight-kilometer race, and Ethan Moe from Williston, North Dakota, put up his career best at NDSU and the second-fastest time in NDSU history for a men’s 8k.
Moe would place sixth with a personal best run of 23:32.4 minutes. Veteran-Bison Will Gerber finished in the top 30, placing 28th. Gerber broke into the top 10 all-time list with his pace of 24:02.1. Both Moe and Gerber finish the regular season strong.
Freshman Owen Johnson placed 63rd with a time of 24:29.2, Grand Forks native Quinn Roehl finished 65th, and fifth-year senior Regan Bosch placed 71st but recorded his personal best time with 24:33.7.
Bosch rounded out the team scoring for NDSU to place seventh out of 28 teams. They’d finish behind powerhouses like Drake (203), Iowa (204), and the host school, Bradley, which won the event.
The women’s team recorded a top-five finish with 139 points. They finished fifth out of 26 teams.
Gonzaga transfer Jade Rypkema has fit in perfectly for this NDSU team. She placed sixth with an impressive time of 20:24.9, while fourth-year runner Logan Harz ran in at 20 in a time of 20:49.9.
Mia Hoffman came in at top-30; she placed 27th at 20:57.1. Sophomore Kylie Nelson came up clutch, placing 44th in 21:14.4. Another freshman, Hannah Boese, placed 50th to round out the team scoring for the Bison on the women's side.
The Bradley Pink Classic is a good test for both teams before the Summit League championship in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It serves as a way to compete against Big10 teams, Missouri Valley teams, and higher levels of division one competition.
The men look to dethrone South Dakota State’s dynasty of 8 championships since 2018. On the women’s side, they look to win their first Summit League title since 2022.
The Summit League Championship will be held in Saint Paul, Minnesota, at the Highland 9-hole Golf Course on Halloween.
