Campus Events: March Magnificence

Welcome back from spring break! I hope that your time off was restful, even if only slightly more than usual. As we return to finish the final half of the semester, looking ahead and seeing all that has to be done can be quite daunting. Many of us have final projects, huge papers, research and exams that are crucial to our grade which can make it hard to let loose and maintain motivation. That’s why it can be beneficial to schedule in time to let the mind rest and indulge in something less rigorous but still enjoyable. The month of March on campus is filled with plenty of events that have the potential to provide you with just that!

Clay Planter Social

This event is hosted by the Ceramics Club on Friday, March 20, from 6-8 p.m. at NDSU Renaissance Hall and involves creating a hanging plant holder. This event does require a $5 event fee to help cover the costs of the materials used. In participating in this event, you will learn basic slab-rolling techniques which will prepare you to build your planter. Anyone is welcome, even if this would be your first time!

NDSU Theatre Arts

The Sound of Music Sing-a-Long: Hosted by the Division of Performing Arts, this sing-along event pairs the Theatre NDSU and NDSU Challey School of Music with Brewhalla on Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. to lead the community through this beloved classic. The first hour is simply a meet-and-greet with the two NDSU performing arts groups, casual conversation and time to warm up those vocal cords, while the second hour dives into the real fun. When you attend, you will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the upcoming theater production of “The Sound of Music,” which will be held from April 9-12. If you’d like to buy your tickets now, you can visit ndsu.showare.com.

Mac N’ Cheese and Shamrock Throwdown with Kappa Delta

Kappa Delta is hosting events during the week of March 24-27 to raise money and awareness for children in abusive situations under Prevent Child Abuse America. Their first event that you can attend is Mac N’ Cheese with KDs on Monday, March 24 from 5-7 p.m. at Crossroads Lutheran Church. Another event that helps raise money is their Shamrock Throwdown, a dodgeball tournament hosted at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse on Friday, March 27 from 7-9 p.m. Teams should be made up of 8-10 people and a $10 registration fee per person is required. A prize being awarded for the winning team. More events are scheduled for KD’s Shamrock Week, which can be found on myNDSU or at this link https://myndsu.ndsu.edu/event/12324768.

Campus Attractions: Spring Blooms

Spring is indeed just around the corner. To celebrate this, Campus Attractions is holding a midday event on Wednesday, March 25 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Memorial Union that allows you to create a bouquet of flowers. No preparation on your end is needed, everything will be provided for you at their booth, including a professional florist that can offer assistance if your confidence in making bouquets is minimal. The event will continue until supplies last, so it may be wise to go as early as your schedule allows!

Office of Student Engagement: Shine & Unwind

Located in the Office of Student Engagement in the Memorial Union, the opportunity to participate in diamond art creation is available on Thursday, March 26 from 1-4 p.m. You can choose from three different pieces to add diamonds to: magnets, photos or coasters. Free snacks will also be available. This is a wonderful opportunity to stop in briefly and dedicate a small amount of your time to ease your mind through artistic creation.

Good luck to everyone in the final half of the spring 2026 semester! Time is going quickly and it is only going to pick up, so make sure to slow down when you can. Think about adding one of these events to your schedule as a form of physical relaxation, depressurization of the mind, or for pure enjoyment. It is essential to set aside time to indulge in passivity.
