Conference Players of the Week

After the epic Bison win over Iowa, three players were selected as the Missouri west valley conference players of the week.

Senior linebacker MJ Stumpf was named Defensive Player of the Week after his 21-yard interception, which he returned for a touchdown that gave the North Dakota State the lead and the first points on the board. The other Bison was Cam Peterson. The sophomore kicker nailed the 37-yard field goal as time expired as the Bison stunned the Hawkeye crowd in Iowa City.

Landon Lechler was also selected as the offensive lineman of the week.

Women’s Soccer

Flashback to last Tuesday when the Bison went up against the Jimmies of Jamestown and dominated throughout winning with a score of 7-0. The team was led by sophomore Malley O’Brien who scored two goals in the game.

The Bison outshot Jamestown by an immense margin of 29-1. With the win the Bison are now 5-5-0 overall. The will next women next play in Omaha on September 29th against the Mavericks.

Cross Country
Both men and women traveled down to Minneapolis on Saturday for the Roy Griak Invitaional . The men were lead by Sophomore Derek Warner who placed 152nd out of more than 300 runners in a eight kilometer race with a time of 27:06:1. The team finished out 25th while Portland picked up the win. The team will next head to Brookings for the SDSU classic on Saturday October 1st.

The women also competed in Minneapolis and likewise had a very nice showing. Sophomore Emma Kusch Dahle led the way for the Bison who finished with a 23:49:0 six-kilometer time and 139th overall in the standings. Senior Taylor Janssen was the second Bison finisher with a time of 23:57:7. In all, the team finished 29th in a meet that featured almost 400 individual entries. The women will also be in Brookings for the SDSU classic on October 1st.
