Bison Got Talent Raises Over $5,000 For Rape And Abuse Crisis Center

The latest event that swept campus was none other than Bison Got Talent hosted by Blue Key Honor Society and The Bison Brevities. If you’re unfamiliar with the hosts of this talent and variety show, allow me to introduce you.

The Blue Key Honor Society is a premier honor society that recognizes college students as senior institutions of higher education for balanced and all-around excellence in scholarship, leadership and service. The Bison Brevities was a group founded in 1929 with the aim of raising money for a good cause, and they did just that.

This talent show raised over $5,000 to donate to the rape and abuse crisis center, striving to save anyone in need and get them to a safe spot to create an ever-safer future.

Jodi Hudson, a representative at RAC (and also one of the judges for the night), explained to us that they receive donations of personal care products that go to the people who seek their help. RAC provides a room full of personal care products that anyone can choose from, as well as providing advocacy, counseling and education about the subject. Held in Beckwith Recital Hall, judges decided their favorite act and the audience could choose theirs. Both winning acts received $100. The judges chose the slam poetry act from Austin Anderson and Kaylee Weigel as the winner. Acts included singing, dancing, slam poetry, speed painting, a magic show and even a special kazoo performance from the S&S Club, all of which contributed to an incredible and jam-packed night out.

To round out the entire night, the audience was able to participate in their silent auction, putting their names down to win great prizes such as a Suite Shot discount, Drekker gear and gift card, signed NDSU footballs, Crumbl Cookie, Mezzula and even the speed painting that was created on stage(which was insanely good).

Looking forward to future events, the Bison Brevities are excited to host their homecoming show this Fall.
