Two Spectrums of Revealing Fashion: Watson and Minaj

We got to see a lot of skin this past week in fashion, particularly between two different celebrities.

On Saturday, rapper Nicki Minaj attended the Piece de Resistance Show at Paris Fashion Week. Her outfit revealed a lot more skin than your typical deep-V dress. Minaj’s flashy, eye-catching outfit revealed one full breast with a sparkling pasty. She paired the revealing top with flashy shorts.

Minaj is not afraid to wear what she wants, but considering this theme (revealing breasts) was “trademarked” by Kim Kardashian around 1999, her choice was really interesting.

While shocking, most of Minaj’s fans supported the look and claimed it to be a “different, but an important statement.”

Another famous artist has revealed some skin and gotten backlash for it this March.

Emma Watson had a recent photo appear in Vanity Fair’s March issue. The actress was wearing a skin-showing ensemble and people were not happy about it.

Watson got a lot of criticism, especially because of her recent role as Belle in Disney’s live-action remake of “Beauty and the Beast” and was named a “hypocritical” feminist. Many believe Watson should take more care with her appearance, especially since her “Beauty and the Beast” role will open the celebrity up to more children’s admiration.

Watson took time out of her press tour to address the issue.

“Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other woman with. It’s about freedom, it’s about liberation. I really don’t know why my tits have to do with it,” Watson said.

Watson has strong voice in regards to feminism. She talked at the United Nations on the topic and was clear about her intentions. She refused to be called “boyish” just because she took charge.

With that being said, it is interesting to see the different points of view in regards to the two different artists. Both women stand up for equal rights in regards to fashion and feminism, yet while Minaj has been called edgy, Watson has taken more heat.
