Editor’s Choice: Vampires and Sunday Shopping

Fargo boasts an array of different upcoming events, from common happenings to strange occurrences, campus to city-wide. Whether it be concerts, a pack of rock icons coming to town or downtown stores open on Sundays, one should be able to find his or her niche.

NDSU Performing Arts

The upcoming weeks hold a wide arrange of events from North Dakota State’s Performing Arts Department. From music to theater, the event calendar offers something for everyone.

NDSU Theatre’s “The Christians” begins its run 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

NDSU’s Challey School of Music hosts a music composition recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, where the students of faculty member Jocelyn Hagen present their new compositions in performance.

The Challey School of Music will also be awarding its students by presenting scholarships, along with a performance. Select piano, voice and instrumental students will perform and will receive music scholarships at 2 p.m., Sunday.

Hollywood Vampires

After making their television debut on this year’s Grammy Awards and building a fan base, the Hollywood Vampires are embarking on its first tour. One of the many tour stops on the run includes the Scheels Arena in Fargo on July 18.

The Hollywood Vampires are a strange, unexpected grouping of people including Alice Cooper, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and acclaimed actor Johnny Depp.

“Here is a gang of friends who came together really by chance and over the last year we were finally able to wrangle our schedules and the energy just fell into place. Playing with this line up is like a dream come true,” Perry said in a press release.

The band produces boisterous and energetic rock music that exemplifies the genre as a whole. Even if you are not a fan of the music in particular, it is an opportunity to see stars of rock music and Hollywood.

Tickets go on sale April 29 and are available at or at the Tickets 300 box office.

Downtown Open Sundays

Select shops and restaurants in downtown Fargo will now be sporting limited hours on Sundays. This comes as an opportunity for patrons to take advantage of the downtown scene all weekend long.

Some of the stores participating include Atomic Coffee, Boiler Room, ecce gallery, Orange Records, Rhombus Guys, Unglued and Zandbroz.
