A Coffee Review: Ladybug Latte

Happy Valentine’s week! This week could either be one of the most joyful or lonely weeks of the year. Either way, I think a great way to celebrate is with coffee! I would like to present you all with an option for your Valentine’s Day date, whether it be a treat for yourself, an outing with your friends, or a date with your valentine. The coffee shop that I am suggesting for these endeavors is none other than Ladybug Latte!

Ladybug Latte is approximately 12 minutes from campus. This makes it a little farther than most of the coffee shops I have reviewed in the past, but I promise it’s worth it. The drive there is not stressful at all, I promise. You don’t even have to get out of your car because it is only a drive-thru! Sure, the lack of seating might be less than optimal, but you’ll never have to worry about parking.

There are two drive-thru windows at Ladybug, so you won’t have to worry about sitting in super long lines. Plus it’s also conveniently placed in a large parking lot, so if you did want to sit in your car to enjoy your beverage, there is plenty of space to do that!

One thing to note about Ladybug Latte is their incredible prices. It’s been years since I’ve seen a coffee shop with such low prices. For example, a 16oz latte is only going to cost you $4.50! Can you believe that? And that’s with flavor. A plain latte, not even including flavor, is going to cost you $4.95 at Starbucks.

I do not usually include anything about prices in my reviews because it is pretty universal that coffee is going to cost you; I did feel the need to mention it this week, though. Seriously, the prices are great. You won’t find them anywhere else. The only downside to learning this information is that you might be tempted to buy twice as much coffee. I know that’s a struggle of mine. Be braver than me. Don’t give in.

There isn’t a ton to say in terms of atmosphere because there is no inside of the store. The only people inside are the workers. As of right now, there is also no outdoor seating. I’m unsure if this changes during the warmer months, but nobody wants to sit outside anyway. It has been decently nice out, but not that nice.

The outside of Ladybug Latte is pretty unassuming. It is really just a little shed. I’ve never loved a shed more. The people inside this shed though, are wonderful. The baristas are so sweet.

The location of Ladybug Latte is a little random, I will admit. It’s kind of in the middle of nowhere. There is just about nothing else of importance around it. Except for a McDonald’s. That is important. The rest of it is very subjective. Ladybug Latte is just a bright light in the whole lot of nothing that surrounds it! In other words, you don’t go to Ladybug Latte because it’s conveniently placed. You go because it’s amazing. That’s enough for me, personally.

The menu at Ladybug Latte doesn’t look very large on the outside, but there is plenty more to browse online. Their Instagram page highlights many of their options, both in feed and story posts. Ladybug Latte offers plenty of seasonal beverages along with a wide variety of hot and iced beverages., which they will be sure to post about on their social media accounts.

Ladybug Latte has perfected both fruity drinks and coffee drinks. I am the kind of person who will decide which coffee shop I am going to get based on whether I am in the mood for a fruity drink or a coffee drink. It is not often that a place can do both. Ladybug Latte can.

They don’t just do well at both, they excel. My personal favorite fruity drink of theirs is a Gold Lotus drink with passionfruit, mango, pineapple, and cream. This drink is incredibly refreshing. It still has plenty of caffeine though, which is exactly what I’m looking for in a fruity drink.

Of course, I love tea, which Ladybug Latte also offers. However, if I’m going to buy a fancy drink, it might as well be super caffeinated. Lotus drinks are full of plant-based caffeine, which means they’re also not as hard on your body.

The coffee at Ladybug Latte is equally as amazing. My favorite coffee drink of theirs is an Iced Salted Caramel Love. Insane. Incredible. So good. I have yet to try a drink at Ladybug Latte that I’m not obsessed with. I will say, all of my favorite drinks of theirs are very sweet. I just happen to love very sweet drinks.

Okay, folks. Hopefully, I’ve convinced at least one person to try out Ladybug Latte if they have not already. Maybe even on Valentine’s Day? A cute little Valentine’s Day date? Don’t forget the most romantic part: tipping your barista. Nothing is more attractive than people who tip their baristas. I used to be a barista; I would know.
