Dates on a budget
It’s Valentine’s Day and many college students may have a significant other they want to celebrate with. College students often participate in common date ideas like lounging on the couch watching a movie or going out to eat. But, when all date ideas seem “common,” the question may come up, what are we going to do to make it special and how do we afford it? With these seven fun and inexpensive Valentine’s Day date ideas, your typical date night won’t seem so typical.
Pitch a Tent
If you have a tent at home that’s been sitting there waiting for the summer, it now doesn’t have to. Pitching up your tent in your backyard is a fun, inexpensive date idea. Coat the bottom of your tent in cozy blankets or set it up next to a fire. Not only can you stargaze through the top but if the outdoors aren’t your thing you can also set it up and have a movie night inside.
Try Something New
If like many college couples you and your significant other do the same activities and go to the same few restaurants, make Valentine’s Day special and find a new place together. Try a restaurant you’ve never been too or do an activity you’ve always wanted to do together but couldn’t find the time. You might just find your new “spot” together.
Pick Two
Valentine’s Day is about both people in the relationship, if you each have different hobbies, make Valentine’s Day about you both by each selecting your favorite thing to do and then doing it together. You just might discover the same passion your partner has.
Cook Together
People always say food is the fastest way to a person’s heart. If you both enjoy cooking, plan to make a meal together or even come up with your own recipe. Over dinner you can reflect on your time together and where you see the future going.
Enjoy a Picnic
The weather shouldn’t be a reason to avoid going outside or on a picnic. Pack up some cozy blankets, hot cocoa, some warm cookies and enjoy all that Fargo’s winter wonderland has to offer. Picnic’s don’t always have to be on the ground, a park bench, playground or even the trunk of your car would make the perfect picnic location.
Get Crafty
Create something together. You could make a scrapbook and fill it full of all your favorite memories, or decorate a picture frame with your favorite photo together.
Write a Letter
Valentine’s Day is the one day of the year where it is acceptable to be a hopeless romantic. Write each other letters about how much the other person means to you. Nothing means more than written words coming from the person you love.
