It’s Tampa Bay versus LA to determine a champion
The Los Angeles Dodgers will take on the Tampa Bay Rays in this year’s World Series. Both teams survived game seven’s tp get here.
For the Dodgers, this is their third time back in the World Series in four years. However, they haven’t won a World Series championship since 1988. What makes this appearance impressive for LA is that they had to come back from a 3-1 series deficit to the Atlanta Braves to reach the fall classic.
Shortstop Corey Seager took home the NLCS MVP award, as he hit .310 with five home runs and 11 runs batted in. Those five home runs and 11 RBI’s are both NLCS records, while he also set Dodgers postseason records with six home runs and 15 RBI’s in a single postseason. He will get a chance to add to those totals with at least four more games left to play.
Meanwhile, the Rays held off the Astros as they went up 3-0 in the series before eventually winning game seven to advance. For the Rays, this is their first time back in the World Series since 2008, and they are also looking for their first World Series title.
Rookie outfielder Randy Arozarena continued his historic postseason as he won the ALCS MVP award. He became the fourth rookie, and first rookie position player, to be named MVP of a league championship series. Arozarena had four home run’s in the ALCS, while also posting a batting average of .286. He was also able to set the rookie postseason home run record, as he has hit seven home runs so far this postseason.
With the World Series being set, they Rays and Dodgers will play each other at Arlington’s Globe Life Field, where game one is set for Tuesday Oct. 20.
