Parachigo’s Newlywed Game– Parachigo is a collective DIY venue, art studio and store that is located in downtown Fargo and is hosting a couple’s event this Valentine’s Day. Their version of the “Newlywed Game” will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 14 8th St. S, Fargo, North Dakota. Couples can pay $15 to enter the competition for the chance to win the first-place prize of a gift basket featuring popular downtown venues.
Puppy Kissing Booth– Scheels Home & Hardware is hosting a free event for all from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 13 for anyone intereseted. It will be held at their Fargo location at 3202 13th Ave S. They are partnering with the Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue to raise money for Giving Hearts Day. Couples and singles alike can meet with the puppies and take photos, snuggle up and learn about the adoption process. Although it is a free event, there is a recommended $10 donation for each photo taken to be donated directly to the animal rescue.
Reel in the Love– The MSUM Oceanarium is hosting their first Valentine’s Day-themed open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14. The marine laboratory is located within Langseth Hall at 600 11th St. S, Moorhead, Minn. This free event is open to anyone interested and will include interactive activities and a Valentine’s Day card making station.
Love Bombed– Fargo-Moorhead Pride is hosting their own Valentine’s Day party to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride, love and unity for all. This celebration will be held from 7 p.m. to 11:59 p.m on Saturday, Feb. 15, and doors open at 6 p.m. The night of love, music and dancing will be held at the Jasper Hotel in downtown Fargo at 215 Broadway N. Anyone can attend and tickets are available for $15.
Twilight Trails– The Edgewood Chalet is hosting a free skiing and snowshoeing event under the stars. This event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the public golf course on Thursday, February 13. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend, whether you have experience or are new to these activities. Ski and snowshoe rentals are available on site in limited quantities. No tickets or registration are necessary, but this event is on a first come, first serve basis.
Activities For Singles
Valentine’s Day Ceramics party– From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, students have the opportunity to create their own heart shaped ceramic dishes. The NDSU Ceramics Club is holding this event in Renaissance Hall at 650 Northern Pacific Ave in downtown Fargo. These dishes can be used for a variety of purposes, such as holding jewelry, trinkets and other miscellaneous objects. Free Valentine’s Day food and drinks will be served.
Kappa Alpha Theta’s Galentine’s Day Event– Interested in joining a sorority and looking for an exciting way to get involved? This is a great opportunity to do so in a fun, low-stress environment! Kappa Alpha Theta will be hosting a cupcake decorating night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Swing by the Theta house for a night of fun and creativity. Snacks will be provided.
Letters by Bison– NDSU’s Volunteer Network is partnering with the Letters of Love organization on campus to provide Valentine’s Day letters for children who may be in need of a smile. This event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, on the main floor of the Memorial Union. Letters made will be given to children at local Sanford Medical Centers and provide a moment to give back to those within our community.
Love Letters to Survivors– Similar to Letters by Bison, this event will provide letters of support to individuals in our community. NDSU’s Student Health Services will be running the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, on the main floor of the Memorial Union. These letters can offer support or empowerment to survivors of sexual or intimate partner violence. Letters written will be distributed to the Rape & Abuse Crisis Center.
Galentine’s Cookie Decorating Class– Sifted and Sweet will be hosting two different decorating classes from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13. This event will be held at the bakery at 800 Holiday Drive Suite 176. “We Go Together” includes cookies and milk, while “Galentine’s” will have chocolate-covered strawberries and tickets can be purchased for $45. This class offers sweet treats, as well as a basic understanding of sugar cookies and decorating techniques.
