North Dakota State track and field split up last weekend, with most of the athletes going to South Dakota State while the throwers headed into the cites at the University of Minnesota.
Women
At the Jim Emmerich Alumni Meet hosted by South Dakota State, Grace Emineth led the way with a solid win in the long jump, jumping 19-05.50 (5.93m). Joy Nnantah followed suit with a victory in the triple jump, recording a mark of 37-07.25 (11.46m). In the pole vault, Jacee Johannsen kept her momentum going and claimed her third consecutive meet title by clearing 13-05.25 (4.10m). Allison Otto-Fitzsimons secured the runner-up spot with a mark of 12-05.50 (3.80m).
Grace Link won the mile in 4:53.82 and took third in the 1000m with a time of 2:57.29. Jaelyn Miller also impressed in the mile, clocking a personal-best 4:59.28 and taking fourth place. Marvelous Onwualo secured second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.58, while Kate LeBlanc was the runner-up in the 800m (2:15.87), followed by freshman Carsyn Brady in third (2:16.85). The 400m dash featured a personal-best performance from Reese Rogowski, who ran 56.05 to take third. Kaci Cooper finished fourth in 56.54 and Elise Wisnewski rounded out the top finishers in sixth with 56.72. Reagan Baesler earned a third-place finish in the 3,000m with a time of 9:40.08. Anika Larson posted a stellar run in the 200m dash, clocking 24.56—her second-fastest indoor time—to secure third place.
At the Jack Johnson Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota, the Bison women took third in both of the throwing events. Riley Quinn placed third in the shot put with a mark of 46-06.00 (14.17m), while Merrideth Spiers took third in the weight throw with an impressive 62-05.25 (19.03m).
Men
North Dakota State sophomore Ethan Moe shattered a 19-year-old school record in the 1000m on Saturday, highlighting the weekend for the Bison men’s track and field team during the two separate meets. Competing at the Jim Emmerich Alumni Meet, Moe clocked in at 2:24.70 to break Chad Bergan’s 2006 record by 1.42 seconds.
Redshirt freshman Brooks Turner made his mark in the 60m hurdles, finishing second with a personal-best 7.97 in the prelims and a solid 8.02 in the finals. In the 60m dash, teammates Jayden Williams and Logan Mathieu claimed third and fourth places, both crossing the line in 6.90 seconds. Freshman Tyler Milkes continued his season progression, posting a season-best 22.18 for fourth place in the 200m dash. The 400m dash saw a tightly contested finish among three Bison runners, with Cullen Curl taking fifth (49.67), Carter Elde sixth (49.70), and Gabe Miles seventh (49.72).
Meanwhile, at the Jack Johnson Classic, the Bison continued to represent. Zack Ramos earned third place in the shot put with a throw of 56-01.75 (17.11m). Jack Packer had a career day, setting personal bests in both the weight throw (58-03.00/17.75m) and the shot put (53-06.50/16.32m), finishing fifth in both events.
NDSU track and field will continue to be on the road this weekend with the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational being at University of Missouri and the UND Open in Grand Forks.
