Top 5 Comedy Movies

I’m sure—dear reader—that you are familiar with the idea that, sometimes, life can really get you down. Whether it be school, work, relationships, or personal problems, it can be overwhelming and all you really want is a little pick-me-up. Some upbeat music, a lighthearted novel, or a goofy film can go a long way to getting out of that slump. So, here are some very fun, lighthearted movies to watch if you are ever feeling down.

1. “Titanic” (1997)

Everyone is likely aware of the historical event at this point—and knows that it did not end in tragedy and everything was absolutely okay. Similarly, this iconic movie is a rom-com that follows Jack and Rose as they fall in love and, despite some minor shenanigans, reach their happily ever after,

2. “Dead Poets Society” (1989)

A lighthearted coming-of-age story, “Dead Poets Society” follows a group of teenage boys at boarding school as they learn to enjoy life and grow into their own people, free from the constraints of their parents’ expectations. Robin Williams’ very comedic performance in this film overall keeps what could definitely be a dour film upbeat and lively.

3. “Moulin Rouge” (2001)

“Moulin Rouge” is a jukebox musical taking place in France at the end of the 19th century. It follows aspiring writer Chistian as he falls in love with Satine, an aspiring actress. Do not be fooled by the drab, uninviting visuals as the story ultimately ends happily with Christian and Satine finding love and achieving their dreams despite some bumps in the road.

4. “The Fault in Our Stars” (2014)

Given this film’s popularity fairly recently, you are probably already familiar with how funny and lighthearted it is—especially the ending. Based on John Green’s novel of the same name, it is another coming-of-age story, though this time focused on the romance of Hazel Grace and a boy named Augustus.

5. “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale” (2009)

Everyone loves a good movie about a cute dog—just look at “Air Bud” and its sequels! This movie, based on a true story, is a cute, funny story about a dog and the unbreakable bond between him and his human.

So, if you are ever feeling down, these are some great movies that will definitely leave you feeling better.
