Scooters: New Coffee and Drink Shop Opens Near Campus

NDSU has its fair share of coffee shops around campus and ways to get fun drinks. But I think many of us forget about the off-campus options too. One recently opened nearby at 1350 21st Ave North. Across from the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch thrift store is a small drive-through coffee shop called Scooters. This is the first one in this part of town, the only other one being 15 minutes away, and it is what I would deem an ideal place to go get a drink whether it be warm, cold, summer, or winter.

One of the unique things about it is that it doesn’t have a place for you to sit down and is drive-through only—making it quick and easy access to those passing by. Although there isn’t necessarily a place to sit and have your drink, the baristas are incredibly fast, very friendly and have a wide variety of drinks available—including seasonal and holiday treats. It’s one of my favorite places to get that much-needed caffeine during finals week or midterms. My personal favorite is the iced or blended Caramelicious.

If coffee isn’t your thing, that is absolutely okay because they have much more than that. From smoothies, like the Matcha Green Tea Smoothie—and my favorite, the mango smoothie—to teas such as Citrus green iced tea or Iced Matcha. It has something for everyone and is a great place to go that is just slightly off-campus. It also maintains a relatively affordable price for its drinks and isn’t much different from your usual Starbucks coffee cost. Most of the coffees and teas are under the six-dollar mark. The smoothies are mostly under seven dollars.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to try the food there, but they tend to also get quite positive reviews from those who have. Nonetheless, If you are looking for a place to get unique and fun drinks, I highly recommend Scooters for next time.
