Fargo is losing a wonderful restaurant this month
The Oasis Restaurant and Bar in West Fargo has announced that they will be closing at the end of Sept. 2024. As a lover of seafood from California, I really appreciated having a cajun seafood boil restaurant like Oasis in Fargo. My cat sitter and friend, who is also from California, often asks to be paid in seafood, and Oasis was the obvious first choice.
Our favorite is the snow crab special with hot Oasis special sauce (a mix of cajun, garlic and lemon-pepper seasonings). It includes one crab, headless shrimp, mussels, potatoes, sausage and eggs. You can also get it without spice if spicy food isn’t your thing. It is always a delicious, flavorful feast when I can afford it. In addition to the tasty food, Oasis also has a list of great drinks. One of my favorites is the cherry lime mule. Citrus goes great with boiled shellfish, and I love the bubbly mules.
Oasis also has a relaxing vibe. This might be biased, but I enjoyed listening to playlists of pop music from the early 2000’s. Eating seafood while listening to a song from the High School Musical soundtrack is peak “living my best life” feelings.
I want to thank the owners and everybody who worked there. I have had many difficult days at school and work that were made better by a dinner trip to Oasis. I always felt cared for by the staff and treated to great food. Overall, Oasis will be greatly missed. It is a special place for me in Fargo and finding another local seafood place to fill the holes it will leave in my heart and stomach will be difficult and most likely impossible.
If you find your mouth watering after looking at the picture or reading about my favorite meal and drink, I encourage you to go eat at Oasis while it is still here. The location has plenty of seating with both table and bar options. It closes Sept. 30.
