The North Dakota women’s golf team earned eighth place in the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational at the Tacoma Country Club in Tacoma, Wash.
The Bison shot a 26-over 890 over three rounds in the tournament. The Herd shot their best round in the second with a three-over-par 291. After the round, NDSU was in fourth place, but a final round 14-over 302 kept the team from a higher finish.
Junior Leah Skaar led the team with a one-over-par 217; she tied for sixth place. She shot a three-under 69 in the second round, the team’s best round in the tournament.
Skaar shot a pair of 74s in the second and third rounds. It was was her best three-round tournament finish of the season
Elise Hoven, a sophomore, tied for 25th with a six-over 222. Hoven opened the tournament with a 73, the team’s best score of the round. She shot a 75 in the second and a 74 in the final round.
Madi Hicks shot a nine-over-par 225 in the tournament. Hicks’ score put her in a nine-way tie for 36th place. The first-year’s one-under 71 in the second was her best round of the tournament. Hicks shot a 76 in the first round and 78 in the third.
Junior Catherine Monty shot an 18-over-par 234; the score put her in a tie for 81st. Monty started the tournament strong with a two-over 74 but posted a pair of eight over 80s to close out the tournament.
Jo Baranczyk tied for 91st with a 20-over-par 236. The sophomore struggled early in the tournament with a 12-over-par 84 in the first round. Baranczyk bounced back from the first-round blues; she shot a pair of four-over-par 76s in the final two rounds.
The Bison have one more tournament remaining this fall, which is the longest trip of the season. The team will travel to the Kapolei Golf Club in Oahu, Hawaii for the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Oct. 24-26.
