Memorial Union Gallery Happenings

This upcoming week marks the begging of a series of events held in North Dakota State’s Memorial Union Gallery.

The Gallery is currently showcasing the 2016 Juried Fargo/Moorhead Visual Artists. This exhibition displays the work of 29 local artists, ranging from paintings, photographs, sculpture and mixed media art work.

In light of the 2016 Juried FMVA, the Memorial Union Gallery will be hosting several events regarding the exhibition.

FMVA Workshop: Artist’s Demonstration

The public will have the chance to get a glimpse into the artist’s mind and the process behind creating in this artist demo.

Artists Dennis Krull and Tyler Evin will detail their artistic process as well as demonstrating the work that goes into each piece. Evin will show how he creates his drawings by using charcoal and acetone spray. Krull will also detail the process as to how he constructs his digital photo illustrations.

The public will be able to interact with the artists themselves and will also have the opportunity to ask any questions they wish. The demonstration takes place at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Artist’s Reception: 2016 Juried FMVA

The reception for the Memorial Union Gallery’s current 2016 Juried FMVA is set to occur at 5:00 p.m. February 26.

Members of the FMVA will be delivering talks about their showcased work. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists and gain insight into the conception of an artistic work.

Students, staff and community members are all welcome to attend.

Made in the FM Kickoff

Beginning at 5 p.m. Feb. 26, local photographers will have a 48 hour time period to capture the people, places and things that comprise the F-M area.

“‘Made in the FM’ is an exhibition that will be made by the community. This event is an exercise in seeing, in sharing, in going out of the way to capture people, places and things that you love or you just discovered,” says Memorial Union Gallery coordinator Anthony Faris.

The event’s kickoff will include a photo demonstration, maps, safety information and a calendar of events happening in the two-day period.

The pictures from the photo shoot will be displayed digitally in the gallery and 40 will be chosen to be printed.

The event is free and open to the public.

Pinterest Night

For do-it-yourself crafting entertainment, the gallery, along with Campus Attractions, are having a Pinterest Party.

Students can craft three different Pinterest creations: linoleum stamps, string art in the shape of your home state and a mug to design.

Be prepared to craft all night long from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Feb. 27.
