Are they just bromances? Or could it be something more?
Teammates have a solid connection is key for teams to find success. However, sometimes things can get a little weird. It feels like teammates can get almost too close. So, today we take a look at some of the budding bromances in the world of sports.
Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell
This is a fairly new bromance as these two only recently, but things are starting to move pretty fast. KAT and Russell have always been buddies, they were the first two picks in the 2015 NBA draft and have appeared on numerous magazine covers together.
Now that they’re both in Minnesota, Towns have not held back in showing his, um, “appreciation” for Russell.
“We always had chemistry, me and D’Angelo,” said KAT. “He has a lot of responsibility, but through it all, he always knows I have his back and I’ll help him as much as I possibly can to take the load off of him.”
Towns has also said, “D-Lo always knows he’s going to be wanted because his brother is here with him and he always knows he’s going to have his back covered because I’m always going to be there for him.”
I’m sure these two will be bench buddies whenever they are both not on in the game and have flashy Instagram posts of each other come the offseason.
George Kittle and Jimmy Garoppolo
This bromance seems a little one-sided. 49ers tight end George Kittle has appeared to have fallen for his 28-year-old quarterback.
In the press conference following San Francisco ripping apart the Packers on national television in the NFC championship game, Kittle wore a t-shirt with a shirtless picture of Jimmy Garoppolo on it. Not only that, but Kittle even got the shirt signed by Garoppolo.
The signature simply read, ‘To George.’
Kittle then returned the favor, signing a t-shirt with his own picture on it (he was fully clothed) and signed it and said ‘To Jim Jim.’ So Kittle went as far as to come up with a little pet name for his quarterback.
One big tell that Garoppolo has not reciprocated Kittle’s love was revealed in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl.
Speaking on Garoppolo, Kittle said, “He is the worst texter of all time. I’m telling you, he leaves me on read all the time. I’ll be like ‘Hey, Jimmy I got a question, maybe on this play should I run my route like this?’ No response, ‘Jimmy you want to go to a movie?’ No response. And then next day he’s like, ‘Yeah, I got your text I just didn’t respond.’ Thanks, Jim. That’s awesome.”
Kittle will have plenty of time to win over Garoppolo’s heart, but for now, he’s just going to have to keep shooting his shot.
Tom Brady and Julian Edelman
Edelman and Brady are the longest-tenured bromance on this list. Ever since Edelman became the Patriots’ slot receiver back in 2013, the two have clicked.
Edelman hitched his wagon onto Brady early on and tried to gain Brady’s trust. The two have been playfully ribbing each other on social media for years.
Back in 2016, Brady had a Facebook post with a picture of himself getting tackled with Edelman chilling in the background that said ‘Hey Julian, how about a little less flexing and a little more blocking next time!!’
Recently with speculation about Brady leaving New England, Edelman posted on his social media platforms a picture from the movie “Say Anything” with his face photoshopped over John Cusack’s in the famous scene with Cusack holding a boombox over his head, and captioned the picture “Baby come back.”
