God Bless America
I don’t think it’s any secret that everyone has an opinion on what has happened since Donald Trump was sworn in on January 20. At the time of this article, he has issued executive orders to deport illegal criminals, pardoned twenty-three pro-life activists, including young mother Bevelyn Beatty Williams and seventy-six year old Joan Bell and declared the U.S.-Mexican border a national emergency.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, and it doesn’t seem like he’s slowing down anytime soon.
Everywhere you turn, someone has an opinion, an anecdote, something to say about what is happening, whether they approve or not. It can be overwhelming, and frankly, exhausting.
No matter my opinion, I just want to remind the world that no matter how you voted, how you feel about what has happened since then or how you feel about what is going to happen in the future, God is still in control.
I wrote an article in the same vein before the election, and this still applies now.
Nothing takes God by surprise. He is not bound by time or space or by any action. Daniel 2:21 says: “He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”
God is the one who appoints our rulers. We don’t always know why or how, but we know that He is still in control. God is not surprised by the outcome of any election or what the elected official does while in office.
It is completely against God’s nature to be cruel. He has a bigger plan that we cannot see. Romans 8:28 says: “And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
He works for the GOOD of those who love Him. His children, the ones who are called by name, who belong to Him. Even if we don’t understand in our lifetimes.
I love America. I love being an American. I am so grateful to live here. It doesn’t matter the president, we should feel honored to live in a nation where we have the power to vote for our officials and leaders, where we have freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly and petition.
I am so grateful for every man and woman who has served and is serving to keep our country free, for those who gave their lives so that we can be free.
No one will always agree with what their government does. There will always be flaws, always be policies and decisions that don’t appease someone. In a country of nearly 335 million people, not everyone is going to be happy all the time.
You know who always has our best interest in mind? God. We might not understand why He does what He does, but we can rest assured that He is still in control and as a perfect, sovereign Lord of all creation, no matter which legislation we live under, He is still working for the good of those who love Him.
I would rather rely on God than any president.
