Women’s basketball

The ladies had a hard time against the South Dakota Coyotes on Saturday, falling 80-54. It wasn’t pretty.

The team had a tough time holding onto the ball against the Coyotes. The Herd committed 26 turnovers, which was then were converted into 30 USD points. The Bison were out-rebounded 33-21.

Senior Marena Whittle provided a silver lining, scoring 15 points and grabbing six rebounds, which were both team highs. They also shot 83 percent from the free throw line, a season high.

The women are 6-16, just 1-8 in the conference.

Track and field

The men’s and women’s track and field club had a banner day on Saturday, breaking multiple records.

Senior Erin Teschuk ran the NCAA’s second fastest mile this season, finishing first in the race with a 4:34. She now has two of the four top times in the NCAA.

Sophomore thrower Courtney Pasiowitz broke a school record in the shot put by throwing a 54-01.75. This was her career best by over two feet. This throw also broke the NDSU record by over 8 inches.

Junior Katelyn Weirmershirck placed 4th and threw a personal best 49-03.50.

Junior Amy Andrushko ran a season best in the 800-meter hurdle, finishing 2:11.01; this ranks 40th in the NCAA. Junior Morgan Milbrath took 2nd in the 400-meter by running 55.51; sophomore Alexis Wood ran a personal best and took 4th place by running 56.34

Freshman Dakota Wood was top finisher for the Bison in both 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter dash.

For the men, junior Alex Renner broke an NDSU record (which was previously held by himself). He ranks 13th in the NCAA and added six inches to the record by throwing 61.03. This was the second meet in a row he extended his record.

Senior Colin Paarmann placed third in the triple jump, although he set another personal best. He jumped 48-11.75. NDSU’s Aron Klos, Matt Bedard, Jonah Warnick and Landon Jochim took first place in the last event of the day, the 4×400 relay.

Sophomore Jonah Warwick ran 1.55.70 finishing fourth place in the 800-meter. Senior Brendan Skime ran the third fasted 3000-meter time in his career running 8:37.78.

Aron Klos placed first in the early sections of the 400-meter dash, running 50.24. Also Brant Gilbertson won the early section of the mile, finishing at 4:20.40.
