The women’s golf team finishes 8th in Washington
Day 1
The NDSU Women’s golf team finished in seventh place after the first two rounds, at the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Lakewood, Washington.
The Bison women were in the thick of a race for a top 10 finish, as they shot a 294 in the first and 298 in the second-round totaling at 592, only five strokes from the top.
Junior Taylor McCorkle led the Herd with 74 in her first round and a 73 in her second, she birdied five times on Monday with four in the second round. The Tacoma Country and Golf Club Course is a par 72, which left McCorkle just three over par through her first two rounds, she is tied at 16th with a 147.
The Bison remain relatively consistent as Junior Alexis Thomas is just a stroke behind McCorkle shooting a 148 with six birdies on the day, Thomas tied for 18th overall. Junior Lexi Geolat remained consistent with a 76 in the first and round and a 73 in the second, she tied for 25 with a combined score of 149.
Other scores for the Herd, include Vinisha Gunaseelan shooting a 151 with a 73 and 78, she currently sits tied for 36th. Sierra Bennion is tied for 66th with a 73 in the first and n 82 in the second round, totaling at 155. Senior Camryn Roadley shot a personal best this season with her season-best 74 in the first round she finished the day shooting a 75 and finishing tied for 25th through the first two rounds of the tourney.
The tournament was led by Gonzaga through two rounds, as the Bulldogs shot a 568, with a stellar 278 team total in the second round. The Herd finished in 4th in total birdies with 26 as a team.
Day 2
The NDSU Women’s team finished in 8th place with a final score of 898, in the Invitational on Tuesday. The Herd was led by Taylor McCorkle and Lexi Geolat who both tied for 16th shooting 221 which is 5 over par. Camryn Roadley and Alexis Thomas finished their outing 11 overshooting 227 both tying for 38th place. Vinsisha Gunaseelan shot 16 over with 232 shots total tying for 64th. Sierra Bennion ended with 28 overshooting 244 as a whole.
The top 10 teams from the tournament were Gonzaga (860), Seattle Univ. (873), Nevada (880), Cal State Fullerton (884), Houston Baptist (885), Eastern Washington (886), Grand Canyon University (894), North Dakota State (898), Hawaii (902) and Utah Valley (905).
