The men and women’s teams both performed well on Saturday
Men’s results
Alex Bartholomay led the NDSU cross country team to a second-place team finish at the MCross Cross Country Championships at Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo. The Bison were bested on Saturday by the SDSU Jackrabbits, but with Bartholomay piloting the Herd with a seventh-place finish with a time of 25:10.
Tim Heikkila came in with a ninth-place finish, he closely trailed Bartholomay with a time of 25:13. The Herd was able to snag a second-place finish with the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State having runners finish in places one through six. Leading the pack of Jackrabbits was Joseph Minor-Williams, who finished with a time of 24:43, who was closely trailed by Micah Mather who finished with a time of 24:46.
In third place was South Dakota with an average time 25:34 lead by Merga Gemeda with 25:12. In fourth place was UND with an average time of 26:33, Purdue Fort Wayne finished in fifth. Oral Roberts in sixth and Western Illinois in seventh.
Women’s Results
The NDSU Women’s Cross Country team was able to walk out Saturday as Summit League Team Champions at the Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo ND.
The Bison were led by Kelby Anderson who was crowned the Summit League Individual Champion. Anderson finished with an impressive time of 20:35. She was trailed by Brynnan Covington who finished in eighth place with a time of 21:47. The Herd finished with an average time of 21:36.
The South Dakota Coyotes finished in second place with Abby Ripperda’s running time of 21:24 putting her in fourth place. Ripperda was followed by fellow teammate Jonna Bart who ran a 21:29. The Coyotes finished Saturday with an average time of 21:45.
SDSU was able to secure a third-place finish, with Anna Donnay who finished in second dunning a 21:02. Ellie Friesen finishing in thirteenth with a 21:55. UND finished in fourth with Madison Overby earning sixth place with a 21:34 time. Nebraska-Omaha finished in fifth with an average time of 22:58, Western Illinois was sixth. Purdue Fort Wayne was seventh, and Oral Roberts finished in eighth place with an average of 24:28.
