North Dakota State senior Trevor Otterdahl placed fifth in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday evening, earning first-team All-America honors.
Otterdahl posted a mark of 72-11.75 (22.24m) on his third of six throws — good enough to take fifth place. He entered the meet ranked sixth in the NCAA this season.
This is Otterdahl’s second consecutive top-five finish at the national meet after placing fourth in the weight throw last year. Trevor joins his older brother, Payton Otterdahl, as the only two men in NDSU history to earn multiple top-five finishes at the NCAA Division I Championships.
NDSU has now claimed 14 All-America honors in men’s indoor track & field at the Division I level.
Otterdahl and the rest of the North Dakota State University track & field teams begin their outdoor portion of the season this week as both men’s and women’s teams will participate in the Raleigh Relays to be held on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. The competition is scheduled to begin on March 24 and conclude on March 26.
