Why should you come write for The Spectrum? I have been writing for The Spectrum for over a year now, and I am in my third consecutive semester of writing. I never realized that writing was something that I could be good at until I was at college and started working for The Spectrum.

Since I have started producing content weekly, and sometimes even daily, I have seen a massive improvement in my work. Everything from sentence structure, vocabulary, grammar and my ability to accurately articulate my thoughts have all improved throughout my time here.

But this particular article isn’t about me; it’s about you. There are several professional reasons why working for The Spectrum may be a good fit for you. Working here will show prospective bosses the quality of work you could produce, your attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines and you will end your time here with a portfolio of work that you can be proud of.

It’s a fantastic thing to include with your resume that would allow you to show employers your personality and voice before they ever meet you.

But working here has also helped me express my thoughts and opinions in a place that gave me all the creative freedom to do so. Working with the previous opinion editor, Delaney, was phenomenal because it allowed me to have conversations with someone I would disagree with, and it allowed me to strengthen my work. I had an editor I could go to for advice and bounce ideas off of. And these are things I hope to continue to do for my writers during my tenure.
