Red Raven Espresso Parlor raises money for local Planned Parenthood with event Feb. 9
The Red Raven Espresso Parlor will be offering a special drink and dessert menu, and raffle tickets for a variety of prizes at their 9th Annual Erotic Art Show. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the F-M branch of Planned Parenthood.
Submissions for consideration in the show closed Feb. 1. While the reception for chosen works from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 9, the artwork will be on display at Red Raven for the entire month of February.
The reception is free and open to all ages but the event page does warn that “viewer discretion is advised.”
A new exciting partnership was added this year. Albino Buffalo will be providing an art vending machine full of anonymous art stickers.
Along with the event’s drinks, desserts, prizes and art, ambient artists Divine Offering and Parliament Lite will perform during the event.
Divine Offering is an ambient folk project by Anjali Karna. Karna’s other projects include Gneil, Shrug and VULNERABLE. They are also a promoter in the local music scene.
Divine Offering released an EP “Attic Recordings” in August of last year. Accompanying the release, Karna explained the album was prompted by emotions surrounding the fallout of a relationship.
Karna offered this advice at the end of the album’s bio: “don’t ever feel like you’re too much because somebody else plays it cool to protect themselves. Don’t ever deny yourself the feeling of care even if it means needing a while to get over it, or to deal with any sense of embarrassment. If it’s hurting you, dude, there are a million loveable people. Intimacy reinvents itself in different voices. Let go.”
Parliament Lite is an ambient electronic band from Fargo. While they have three singles from 2016 out on Bandcamp, they are more active on Soundcloud under the user walksman.
