Remodeling Starts Small Fire at BSA

A small fire ignited in the Bison Sports Arena Monday afternoon, burning a small section of roof before contained.

Construction workers, renovating the BSA into the Sanford Health Athletic Complex, were using a metal saw to cut a space through the roof for an exhaust fan when insulation started on fire, Fargo Fire Department Battalion Chief Lee Soeth said to media.

Minimal damage was reported. The Fargo Fire Department responded, but construction workers contained the fire by the time of their arrival.

The fire is the second accident in as many months to occur on North Dakota State construction sites. A semi truck flipped last month at the STEM building site.

No serious injuries were reported for either accident.
