North Dakota State nominated four of its students for the Barry Goldwater Scholarship.
The students are: junior Cody Ritt, majoring in civil and environmental engineering; sophomore Sean Nash, majoring in zoology; junior Bryn Anndi Halley, majoring in crop and weed sciences; and junior Bridget Eklund, majoring in biotechnology and microbiology.
The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation’s goal is to increase the amount of highly-qualified scientists, mathematicians and engineers.
Each scholarship is worth up to $7,500 annually. Scholarships cover undergraduate tuition, books and room and board.
The Goldwater Scholarship was authorized in 1986 to honor Sen. Barry Goldwater. Goldwater served for 30 years in the U.S. Senate.
After the review process, up to 300 students from across the country will receive scholarships for 2015-2016.
