It’s a sad day for exotic dancers in China.
Strippers’ roles at rural funerals are decreasing, the Ministry of Culture said on Thursday. The performances are described as illegal and corrupting “social morals.”
The dancers come to funerals to draw more mourners and show how much wealth the family has.
Two burlesque dancing groups, the Red Rose Song and Dance Troupe, did a strip-tease in early February after a small funeral of an elderly person in northern province of Hebei.
A leader of the Red Rose group received 15 days in detention and a fine equivalent to $11,300 American.
