October is almost over, but the F-M area still has plenty of entertainment before Halloween.

Below are just a few of the F-M’s events for the last week of the month.

‘The Lower Forty-Eight’

“The Lower Forty-Eight” is a collection of ink illustrations by Brett Lysne. The Spirit Room will show Lysne’s work in gallery 1. These ink illustrations are said to be visuals that explore the social and political side of America.

Lysne is a fairly local artist as he is originally from Crookston, Minnesota. The Fargo-Moorhead Events website described his work to be ripe with representation and explorative of cartography. In his words, his gallery attempts to bring together “fear, fatigue and burnout of those around me.”

The exhibit is free to attend.

Location: Spirit Room, 111 Broadway N, Fargo

Time: Oct. 7 – Dec. 7, 1 p.m. -5 p.m.

‘Pardon my Partum’

“Pardon my Partum” is a collection of works by Hollie DeFrancisco. Her work will be on display in the Spirit Room’s gallery 2.

“Pardon My Partum” is an exhibition of whimsical and macabre paintings. She describes her paintings to be illustrations that explore her personal partum experiences. For those that do not know, partum means after childbirth.

DeFrancisco became pregnant with her daughter, and at the time it was very unexpected. What is typically viewed as an exciting time, instead left her feeling anxious and depressed. Through her artwork she depicts all these emotions and more.

There is no admission fee for the gallery exhibit.
