Cheap and Easy Costumes

A ranking of last minute costumes

If you are anything like me you usually end up switching costumes last minute or forgetting to get one all together. I have become quite the expert in whipping up fast last minute costumes that are still cute and affordable.

I have decided to share a few of my past ideas with all of you in the hopes you do not end up costumeless on Halloween, which I find terrible. So, here is a ranking of easy and cheap costumes from easiest to hardest.

The Walmart T-Shirt

The possibilities are endless when you have Walmart at your disposal. Grab a big t-shirt and some construction paper and you can turn yourself into almost anything. From m&ms to pumpkins, to dalmations, the costumes are infinite.

This is also a very cheap costume with supplies totally maybe $15, if you splurge.

Librarian/Teacher/School Girl

This one is a tad overdone but easy nonetheless. Grab those job interview clothes in the back of your closet and a book and you are ready to go. This costume saved me freshman year of college after deciding to go out last minute.

I wore a pencil shirt and a cropped sweater along with my glasses, but really any business casual clothes will do.

If scarecrows are not your vibe turn this costume into a cowboy or cowgirl costume by ditching the make up and changing out the overalls for some denim jeans, shorts or a skirt .

Scarecrow

The rest of the costumes are technically free but it requires you have all the clothing in your closet already, for example a staple quick costume for me is a scarecrow. If you have overalls and a flannel you are pretty much set.

Grab some eyeliner and eyeshadow and do a quick pinterest search of scarecrow makeup for reference and you’ll be ready to go in no time. Bonus points if you have a straw hat and boots to add to the outfit.

Another great thing about this costume is that almost all of these items can be found at Walmart or Target.

I paired my bright blue dress with some white gogo boots for the perfect last minute fit.

Gogo Girl

This costume, again, if made up from things out of your closet would be relatively easy, however I am assuming that not all of the items are in your closet with this ranking.

If you have white gogo boots, this costume is for you. All you need is a funky print or bright colored dress to wear and you have become a gogo girl. If you own a white head band to wear with the outfit that is strongly encouraged to complete the look.

There are a lot of quick and easy costumes available at your fingertips so do not be afraid to get creative and DRESS UP! Halloween is only as fun as you make it, and who doesn’t want to be someone else for a night.
