Wahlund named Athlete of the Week

North Dakota State sophomore distance runner Allie Wahlund has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Women’s Cross Country Peak Performer of the Week; the league office announced Tuesday.

Wahlund ran a 5k personal-best of 17:19.5 to win the UND Ron Pynn Classic on Sept. 2, clocking the sixth fastest 5k time in NDSU cross-country history.

Since the start of the 2021 cross-country season, Wahlund has been NDSU’s top finisher in each meet she has entered.

Mauch Named MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week

North Dakota State left tackle Cody Mauch was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week by the league office Monday, Sept. 5.

Mauch, a senior from Hankinson, N.D., played 33 snaps in North Dakota State’s 56-14 win over Drake with no sacks, quarterback pressures or tackles for loss allowed, and graded out with 12 plus-physical plays.

It was Mauch’s first career player of the week award. NDSU rushed for 274 yards and had 11 ball carriers average 7.4 yards per carry in the win.

Missouri Valley Football places three in the Top Five

The Missouri Valley Football Conference has three teams ranked in the Top 5 of the Stats Perform poll of Sept. 5.     

North Dakota State (1), South Dakota State (2), and Missouri State (5) represent the Conference.   Southern Illinois (17) and UNI (24) are also ranked, while South Dakota and North Dakota are receiving votes.

The last time the league had 3 teams in the Top 5 was on March 8, 2021, when UND (3), UNI (4) and NDSU (5) represented the league. 

NDSU Announces Class of 2022 for Bison Athletic Hall of Fame

North Dakota State University will induct seven individuals into the Bison Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 30. This year’s honorees will comprise the 50th annual class to be inducted.

The 2022 inductees are trailblazing director of women’s athletics Lynn Dorn, five-time NCAA champion track & field athlete Kinsey (Coles) Essler, seven-time All-American sprinter and football receiver Marques Johnson, national champion wrestler Mark Pazdernik, All-American linebacker and longtime NFL coach Jerry Rosburg, two-time All-American football center Brad Servais, and former faculty athletics representative and biochemistry professor Allan G. Fischer.

The event will be held on campus in the Nodak Insurance Basketball Performance Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the induction ceremony to start at noon
